Jewellery wholesale for boutiques: building an assortment that sells

A boutique does not need a catalogue — it needs a small range where every piece has a job. Here is how to structure it.

Give every piece a role

Before choosing styles, decide what each piece is for on the shelf:

  • Entry — the piece that makes the display feel affordable. Usually a simple band or small earring.
  • Core — the everyday seller. Take more of these and reorder them.
  • Colour — green, black or mixed stones to break up a wall of gold tone.
  • Hero — one wider cuff or set for the window and social posts.

If every piece is a hero, nothing stands out; if every piece is entry, there is no reason to pay more.

How many styles for a first order

For a small shop, a first order of several styles across two or three roles is more useful than a large order of one design. It gives you sell-through data by role and style, which is what the second order should be based on.

Mixing colour without looking random

Pick one accent colour and repeat it across two or three pieces rather than introducing five colours at once. Mixed-colour zircon reads as a family when the metal finish is consistent. Two-tone pieces bridge gold and silver displays.

Display and photography

Photograph each piece on a plain background and again worn. The worn photo is what sells online; the plain photo is what makes the range look consistent. Keep the same lighting across the range so the display reads as a collection.

Reordering

Reorder by style, not by category. A ring that sells out in one size needs that size, not another ring. Keep one sample of each style as a colour reference for the next batch.

Questions buyers ask

How many pieces should a first boutique order be?
Enough to cover several styles and roles without tying up too much cash. A mixed order across entry, core, colour and hero pieces is the usual starting point.

Can you supply display or packaging?
Packaging can be branded for custom orders. Ask with your logo and quantity.

Do you offer exclusivity by area?
Ask us with your location and the range you are considering. It depends on the styles and the market.
